The God That Died
|
|
The idea of God dying may be a stumbling block to many people. How can an all-powerful God die? How can the creator of life fall to death’s power? How can The Maker of the entire universe and The Designer of all things die? This is an enormous problem in the eyes of people, such as Muslims, whose god would not and cannot die. All of these objections arise because there is a lack of understanding of the deep love of God. Yes, people believe God to be loving and merciful. Recognize: this is the very reason why He came to die for us. I suppose their god is not loving and merciful enough to save us if the only possible way is to become man and die. And it’s true - in order for God to forgive us and to save us, He had to take our place. Since God is both merciful and just, our Savior had no alternative but to shed his blood. If Christ did not die for us, God would have either been unjust or unloving. Either our Creator is not moral and chooses to allow sin to go unpunished or He doesn’t love us and simply doesn’t care about our eternal destiny. One can’t believe in a loving God that wouldn’t die for us. Those who mock the true God who died for us, also fail to realize this: death could not hold Him! What people fail to understand is that God did choose to taste death. But it was impossible for death to keep an innocent man. Christ resurrected Himself and defeated death! We celebrate this day because of the risen, living God. We celebrate because of the One who provided the only way of salvation. On that first Resurrection Day, the proof of salvation came to mankind. God had completed His master plan for the world. As for us, we can choose to pass through death and have life everlasting because of the One who endured death and defeated it. All we need to do is believe in The One who was raised from the dead. Thank You Jesus! |
