Mark 5:18-19 “And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” In this passage, Jesus heals a demon-possessed man upon reaching shore. After the demons, named Legion, are thrown into the herd of pigs and into the sea, the town rejects Jesus, begging for His departure. However, the man who just moments ago was possessed by a Legion of demons begged to be with Jesus and go with Him. Jesus’ response was no. The Messiah would not let Him come with Him! “Go back home to your own people and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you.” All of you who bask in the Lord’s presence, follow His words, “Go back home to your own people and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you.” Jesus told that man to go and evangelize using his personal testimony. Jesus knew this man wouldn’t know theology, have convincing arguments or well thought-out logic for accepting Christ. This converted man had no knowledge of scripture or prophecy. All he had was his testimony. You say: “I don’t know how to share my faith.” Jesus says “go and tell others.” You say: “I don’t know what to say.” Jesus says, “tell them how He had mercy on you.” The Bible gives us an example of how we are to reach out to people with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We should desire to follow him, but we must also tell people what he has done for us. People might argue about what you know, but they can’t argue what happened to you. Tell people what happened to you – it might be the Good News they’ve been waiting for. |
