This week's message:
Having Hope
Sometimes we feel like David when he said in 1 Chronicles 29:15 We are aliens and strangers in your sight, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
What does it mean to be without hope? To hope is to trust in, wait for or desire – to expect something beneficial in the future. So to be without hope is to have nothing to wait for, nothing to expect from the future. In this day and age, we see many people who say there is no God, that there is no heaven, that they live and they die and that’s the end. Although those people would hate to hear this, they are by definition hopeless. They have no hope. They have no expectations of the future and so they busy themselves with themselves, and their hope is short-term, selfish and unfulfilling.
But what about people who do believe in God? What does the Bible say about hope?

Who we are...
We are a new church looking to build the Kingdom of Christ here in Suffolk County, Long Island. We are not your traditional church. Instead, we try to be relevant to everyone without watering-down the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our music is contemporary Christian. Our message is pertinent. Our service is enjoyable and interesting.
If you are looking for a new church or have never been to church before but would like to know what Jesus is all about, we invite you to come and visit us. We meet at the Long Island Sheraton Hotel on Sunday Mornings at 10:30AM in Hauppauge, which is in Western Suffolk County. Click here to find the directions to the Long Island Sheraton. Check the monitors to find out which room we are in.
You can also check us out at your leisure by perusing our "Vision Site" here. If you like what you see, then come visit us! You'll find a group of loving people who are happy to see you! |
Why did Jesus have to die?
If you're like most Americans, you believe that most people are going to heaven and the way we are getting there is by being good people. But what is good? What you might think is good, I might think is wrong. Even if we knew what "good" was, we don't know how good is good enough. Do I have to do one good thing for every bad thing? Or is it ten good things for every bad thing? Or is it 100? What if you miss by one good thing? Who knows the answer?
And in the end, when you're lying on your deathbed and I ask you, "Are you going to Heaven?" is the best you can say, "I hope so"? If so, that's one big hope, because if you're wrong, you are gambling with your eternal soul!
